A company paid for the development of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device for a military application. The “finished” product was too expensive to assemble and proved difficult to administer in the field.
Global Product Development Group provided an ergonomic solution that greatly simplified use of the CPAP device in the field and also significantly reduced the number steps require in the assembly process. Global PDG also designed a functional test fixture for the device.
The redesigned CPAP device boasted the following features:
- 17% overall Weight Reduction.
- 57% reduction in the housing weight.
- 20% reduced volume.
- Vastly improved ergonomics.
- Reduced tooling requirements.
